Unemployment Rate Eases in Western Australia

The national unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, for June 2022 has decreased to its lowest level in almost 50 years at 3.5%.
Not since 1974 have we seen a national rate lower however the Western Australian unemployment rate actually rose by .3 to 3.4%. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, June produced more overall persons employed, increased the number of full time employment with the underemployment, persons wanting more work, rose slightly above the previous month. The overall statistics point to organisations and employers being confident enough to employ and looking to the future growth possibilities.
The ABS Labour Force Report also highlighted:
- Participation rate increased to 66.8%
- Employment increased to 13,599,300 persons
- Underemployment remained at 6.1%
- Unemployed people reduced to 548,100
- Victoria now has the lowest unemployment rate 3.2%
- South Australia and Tasmania the highest rate together at 4.3%
- Youth unemployment rate decreased to 7.9%.
- Youth unemployment rate was 3.7 pts lower than March 2020
