About the position:
Our client is seeking a skilled Financial Controller, who reporting the Chief Financial Officer, will oversee financial reporting and analysis for the business using advanced Excel and Xero. The ideal candidate will enjoy being knee deep in Excel interpreting company performance with respect to cost controls, reviewing productions costs, and pricing structures and utilising their analytical skills will make positive recommendations on cost and profit improvement. They will have a solid background in financial principles and apply them to the preparation of accounting papers, significant balance sheet reconciliations, material journals, group tax calculations and intercompany balances, loans and investments. Although you will be comfortable working autonomously, the office fosters a friendly, supportive environment where teamwork and personality are valued - come and make a difference!
Some further tasks include:
- Prepare and deliver monthly consolidated financial results in compliance with accounting standards
- Conduct material balance sheet reconciliations and review significant journals
- Analyse company performance related to cost control and recommend profit improvement strategies
- Prepare annual budgets and monthly reforecasts for new projects and overall integration
- Assist with audit processes, ensuring all workpapers are accurate and deadlines met
- Provide governance, risk, and compliance support as directed by the Executive Chairman and CFO
About your skills and experience required:
- Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Completion of CA/CPA highly desireable
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar role
- Proven experience in financial reporting and analysis, preferably within the mining resources sector
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Experience with balance sheet commentary
- Proficient in advanced Excel functions and data management techniques
- Must have experience in group consolidations and exposure to reporting platforms
- Experience with implementing new accounting systems desirable
