October Employment Rate Steady - Western Australia

Western Australia was one of five states / territories to record steady unemployment rates for October 2019 compared to the previous month. The national rate also remained steady in terms of Trend Unemployment at 5.3% for the month.
New South Wales and Northern Territory recorded increases both of 0.2% to 4.7% and 5.9% respectively.
Tasmania was the only state to record a lower unemployment rate - 0.1% lower in October at 6.1% Trend Unemployment.
Some of the key data as released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today include:
Australia's trend estimate of employment increased by 12,300 people
the number of unemployed people increasing by 1,800 people
the unemployment rate remaining steady at 5.3%
the underemployment rate remaining steady at 8.5%
the underutilisation rate remaining steady at 13.8%
the participation rate remaining steady at 66.1%
the employment to population ratio remaining steady at 62.6%.
