WA Unemployment Continues to Edge Lower

Western Australia was the only state to record a lower trend unemployment rate for September 2019 compared to the previous month. September trend unemployment for WA was 1 point lower at 5.7% compared to 5.8% for August. Nationally, the rate has remained unchanged for September at 5.3%.
The unemployment rates for Queensland and South Australia both increased by 0.1% for September while all other states remained unchanged.
Some of the key data as released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today include:
Nationally the rate remained steady at 5.3%
Number of unemployed persons increased by 1,600 persons
The participation rate remained steady
Trend employment increased by 20,200 persons
Underutilisation rate remaining steady at 13.7%
Underemployment rate remaining steady at 8.4%
