Monthly update on People and Jobs….. for March
Unemployment: March 2025 unemployment rates remain steady on both a national and state basis at 4.1% and 3.5% respectively, seasonally adjusted. The encouraging aspect for business is that there were over 32,000 more people who found work last month.
Jobs: The number of advertisements on Seek has increased over the past month and are almost on par when compared to this week last year. IT roles grew the most with Administration and Accounting sectors also increasing. Health and Trades jobs were unchanged while Sales and Engineering jobs down.
Q&A: The “counter-offer” continues to pop up when it is least wanted!! An offer and contract signed is not currently guaranteed until the new hire walks through the door. We currently hear numerous stories, through both agency and internal recruitment, of counter-offers being made. Our tip is to start the onboarding and engagement process immediately after the offer or contract and make the candidate feel part of the new team immediately.
